I have no more regular sessions available before the holiday cut off. I do have a handful of morning mini sessions available on weekday mornings this week and next. Remember that all holiday orders must be placed by December 11th to guarantee delivery by the end of Hanakkah or Christmas and if your shoot is on the 9th you’d best be a fast decision maker!
To book a mini session at 9:30 AM on a weekday, click HERE.
I have opened up booking on regular sessions through the end of March. Click HERE to reserve one.

This sweet little girl was 9 days old when she came over for a Fresh Faces session. I first met her mother at an engagement party last summer and saw her again – very pregnant – at a wedding in October. And now the little one is here. And, oh, was she an amazing baby. I expect to get peed on. I expect to get pooped on. I expect to spend time basically begging a baby to sleep. But a child who nurses, passes out, and stays thoroughly asleep with no bodily fluid leaks at all? Simply doesn’t happen.
Thank you for letting me borrow your wee one! I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I did. Now I just have to chose which one I’ll put in my portfolio as a Fresh Face…

This laughing boy, his father and his paternal grandfather posed all together for me at a family shoot last weekend.

I think I will pair this one with a poem. I hope you enjoy the sneak peek; your full gallery should be ready by the middle of the week!
Generation To Generation
In a house which becomes a home,
one hands down and another takes up
the heritage of mind and heart,
laughter and tears, musings and deeds.
Love, like a carefully loaded ship,
crosses the gulf between the generations.
Therefore, we do not neglect the ceremonies
of our passage: when we wed, when we die,
and when we are blessed with a child;
When we depart and when we return;
When we plant and when we harvest.
Let us bring up our children. It is not
the place of some official to hand to them
their heritage.
If others impart to our children our knowledge
and ideals, they will lose all of us that is
wordless and full of wonder.
Let us build memories in our children,
lest they drag out joyless lives,
lest they allow treasures to be lost because
they have not been given the keys.
We live, not by things, but by the meanings
of things. It is needful to transmit the passwords
from generation to generation.
~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery

This is the sweetest little girl. After we did some shooting I got to hold her and play bounce the girlie while her mother tracked down a pen; she played seduce the photographer with the cutest, most endearing smiles you could ever want to see on a wee one.
Thanks for letting me capture this time for you. Your full gallery should be ready early next week. Until then, enjoy your sneak peek!

Also, she tends to close her eyes when she eats something she likes. I wanted to pair a picture of her eating candy up with James drinking his milkshake for the Christmas cards. You would not believe how many times she closed her eyes as she just really savored that lolly. You’d think I never allowed the child sweets which is not at all true.

I haven’t decided whether to go with this or to try it again and see about some eye contact.

This sweetie came to see me on her third birthday to get her Christmas cards done. It was a chilly morning and she was a total trooper and kept giving me smiles until the very end. We took a break after about 20 minutes to go warm up at Starbucks and get some hot chocolate.

Mini-sessions are a great way to get cards done by a custom photographer; the session time is shorter and you get fewer proofs to choose from but if you know that all you want are cards and maybe a few gift prints its a great alternative to chain studios. The best way to know if I’ve got any mini-sessions being offered is to either become a fan on facebook or subscribe to the blog feed.

Last year I donated a session to a fundraiser for Families for Conscious Living of Connecticut to raise money to help with the medical expenses of a little girl born with two holes in her heart. Like all mothers everywhere the auction item winner has been a trifle busy with kith and kin and we finally had time to do her session today on what may have been the most perfect fall weather day ever.
I love this one because it is such a tender mother/daughter moment.

Well, it’s been gasping for air for a while, but I think I can finally call it alive. I feel like celebrating, which is much better than the “feeling like tearing my hair out” I felt like earlier in the week and though I managed to avoid the latter I think I shall embrace the former by giving away gift certificates, just in time for the holidays too!*
The Brand New and Improved Stacie Turner Photography Web Site, now with Weddings
Go take a peek. And if you find your child on the web site (not the blog, which is the same as it ever was) post a quickie description of the image in the comments of this post on the blog by December 31, 2009 and I’ll mail you a gift certificate for $25.
* Which reminds me – gift certificates make terrific, well, gifts.
