I am now taking reservations for the May Mini Sessions on May 12th and 13th. Mini sessions are perfect for people who want just a few images and don’t need a longer session. Click HERE to reserve your time now.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How much is the session? $50. However, sessions booked and paid for before February 28th will be only $25.

What does that include? The session fee includes a 20-minute session and an online, password protected gallery from which to place your order. It does not include any files or prints.

How long does the session last? The sessions are 20 minutes long. It is important to be on time and ready to go at your scheduled time because someone is scheduled after you and if you are late it will shorten your session.

How many pictures will be in my gallery? 5-10.

How long does it take to see my pictures? 10 – 15 business days after your session I will email you to let you know your gallery is ready for viewing. I will ask you to select your 3-day viewing window. Please choose these days carefully as there is a fee to extend the gallery dates.

Are these digital or film? Mini sessions are wholly digital.

Can I still get a fine art print from a mini session? Yes, you can get giclee prints in either color or black and white and silver gelatin or ziatype prints in black and white.

Wait, did you say “color”? Yes, I am now doing color work as well, though I call it “color on the slant”. Please look in the digital gallery to see what I mean.

What if I need to reschedule? Mini-sessions can only be rescheduled in the case of rain and session fees are not refundable.

I only want one print. Is that OK? There is a $300 minimum order for mini sessions. You can see print and collection pricing HERE.

Can I bring my dog to the shoot? No, except for service animals dogs are not permitted at sessions. You don’t want to hear the story of why this is now the case.

What if I have another question? Please email me and ask!

Summer Mini Sessions

Posted: June 12th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Availability | 2 Comments »

If you plan to book one of the 20 minute mini sessions this summer please get it booked by the end of June (it doesn’t have to be IN June, just booked by the end of June.) This is going to be it for the free-standing minis. In fall I will do a day of mini sessions specifically geared towards holiday portraits and cards but other than that I’m phasing them out except for sudden, odd “the flowers off 185 are GREAT so if you are free this weekend and want to do a mini session call me” kind of bits of randomness. I always leave room for randomness in my life.

Fast. Local. Easy.

I am simplifying my session structure for the summer (and probably into the fall as well). It’s summer. Who wants complicated stuff? So, I will be focusing on the local mini sessions which will be $50 for a 20-25 minute session which does not include any prints or files; there will be a $300 minimum purchase of prints or files (and I will keep the mini session digital package of 5 images on a disk for the same total cost as before).

If you want to schedule in a different location (for example, your home for a newborn session), you can, of course, still schedule a regular session that does just that. I have noticed, however, that small children tend to be quite QUITE done by the time 25 minutes is up. That is, after all, an eternity of cooperation for a 3-year-old. There’s no need to torment the child longer than that just to say “custom photography sessions are at least 1-hour.”

Fast, local, easy. Summer.

Book Your Mini Portrait Session!

Winter is leaving Connecticut behind and now is the time to book your mini session for this spring! Mini Sessions are a great way to indulge in a portrait session without investing in a regular session. Mini sessions are shorter than regular sessions and require a bit more scheduling flexibility on your part but they are a fantastic way to get beautiful portraits here in Connecticut.

How does it work, you ask? We meet for a 20-25 minute session in one of a handful of locations including West Hartford Center, Blue Back Square, Westmoor Park and Elizabeth Park. March Mini Sessions are only available on weekdays and May Mini Sessions are all on one Saturday so whether you need a weekday or a weekend date, one will work within your schedule. 2-3 weeks after your session I’ll send you a link to your online gallery. You can expect about 10 pictures in your gallery and 5 full resolution images as well as 5X7 reference prints of those 5 images are included in your mini session; once you see your gallery you get the delicious task of choosing which 5 you want. And, yes, you can always get all of them if you just can’t choose.

These are a great way to get Snow Portraits (while it lasts!) Easter Portraits, Mother’s Day presents or even just an updated “what we look like NOW” session.

March Mini Sessions are available on select weekdays throughout the month and can be done during the day or in the magical light right before sunset. Please email to confirm date and time availability for the date you want before booking.

May Mini Sessions are scheduled at regular time slots on May 21, setting aside a weekend date for these shorter, more economical sessions. You can choose your time slot when you book your session.

Last Minute Mini Sessions

Posted: September 27th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Availability | Tags: , , , , | 4 Comments »

OK, so it isn’t last minute YET. But November 13th, believe it or not, is last minute from the custom photography standpoint what with that whole editing each image individually thing. November 15th is the last day for sessions with guaranteed holiday delivery (and PLEASE tell me if your holiday is Hanukkah so I can bump you to the top of the editing queue) and this day of mini sessions is a good way to get prints and cards. It isn’t a full session. You can’t do a simply babies style newborn shoot. You can, however, get a nice, small selection of gorgeous pictures to pick out some images for the holidays.

Each session is $50, 20-30 minutes long and you can expect 5-10 proofs from which to choose. (Thus, “mini” – shorter sessions, fewer proofs, lower cost.) The session fee includes the session itself; all prints, cards, products and files are seperate. You can, however, opt to pre-order a session disk at a reduced cost. All sessions will be at the Trout Brook Greenway in West Hartford.

There are limited spots as, well, the day is only so long and I have yet to find a way to stick extra hours into one. So I would recommend reserving a time slot now, even if this is hardly last minute, since if you wait until the last minute you may be stuck with an 8AM time slot!

This little dancer had a session at Trout Brook last year. I’ll be in knee high boots in case I need to go into the stream for good lighting but I won’t ask you to get wet in November!
