One Twin on this Tuesday

August 25, 2009

We went to one of my favorite local parks today where I took some pictures of the kids in between their running around like crazed monkeys freshly released from cages. It was hot, itchy and there were potty training failures. By the end of the morning we’d all rather had it but I got one last shot of Fiona looking sulky in the barn. I do have some of James as well to get to. Soon.

This venerable gentleman has just celebrated his 80th birthday and his daughter wanted to commemorate this milestone with a family portrait. Along with more conventional groupings I did a few that focus just on him, such as this one.

I did my standard spiel about how it takes adults a while to warm up to the camera, and that it is harder work to look natural in pictures than you might think at the beginning of the shoot. This is true for most people – most of us just look like a frozen deer in the headlights at first. About 5 minutes into the shoot I looked at the family matriarch – the gorgeous wife of the gentleman above – and said, “You’ve had your picture taken a lot, haven’t you?” Sure enough, she was a model in her youth. Her granddaughter has inherited this poise and, as you can surely tell below, looked great in every photo. Every single one.

I hope you enjoy your sneak peek – your full gallery should be ready early next week and then you’ll have the difficult problem of choosing which images you want!

I first met this little sweetheart when she was just an itty bitty newborn. Now she is a big 3-month-old and it’s scary to think that the next time I see her she’ll be sitting on her own! (Her big brother is pretty adorable too…)

Both the big brother and the baby brother of this family have the most beautiful eyes. Thanks for letting me capture their sweetness!

Every year I donate a session and print to the West Hartford Mom’s Club (of which I am not a member) auction and yard sale held to benefit St. Agnes Home, here in West Hartford. This year a pair of unbelievably sweet girls won the photo session. OK, actually their mom won. We met in Westmoor Park, which is one of my favorite places here in West Hartford so I was thrilled when their mom suggested it. This little girl, the younger of the two, may well be the sweetest angel I have photographed lately and picked a small bouquet of grasses, clover and flowers just for me.

Thank you for your donation to St. Agnes and I hope you have fun picking out your print.

One Twin

July 28, 2009

I’ve been taking pictures of the munchkins to put on a photo bag. Although I may live to regret this one – it is hardly a conventional smile – it is very much my daughter. She is an absolute ham and goes for the laugh. The other night she wanted me to lay down with her to help her fall asleep and she would stare deep into my eyes and then make this face. Successful in pulling a laugh out of me, she would throw her head back and laugh and laugh.

I’ll post a picture of the purse when it arrives.

This girl is so gorgeous. She has that perfect, clear skin of girlhood (and her freckles spell out “hi” on her nose), the most infectious smile imaginable and a laugh that breaks into a million pieces, each of which become a fairy.

Her mother booked a fairy shoot, and you’ll see the fairy image soon, but after we took her out of the costume we did a few casual shots and I simply don’t know how anyone could resist them, or her. Thanks for letting me take pictures of your beautiful girl; we’ll have to do it again soon, perhaps with fall leaves or when snows cover the world.

Oh, and Miss B. – your minions will be here with your tea shortly. :)

July & August are Booked

July 16, 2009

I am totally booked in July and August. The only exception I will make is for newborns (under 2 weeks) and squeezing those is going to be interesting. If you want a shoot and still want the feel of summer I recommend booking in September now because fall is going to book up fast.

This link will take you right to the session reservation page. Current available dates are listed and you can select your date when you reserve your session.

Little Miss D was all giggles and laughs at her photo shoot when Daddy threw her up in the air. Though, with eyes that beautiful she has no reason to frown. I had a lot of fun at your session and should have your full proof gallery ready by the end of the week. Then, I’ll see you in October for her birthday shoot!
